Design and Manufacturing of High Performance Racing Go-Kart
Aim of Project
Design and fabricate a Go-kart with an increased performance, maneuverability, efficiency along with complete safety to compete with the commercial karts and provide an alter view of the karting experience. The reason being, present karts available in commercial market possess less power to weight ratio along with CVT engines which provide less torque and less accelerations at higher speeds. Performance and efficiency of the karts is considerably low to compensate with safety measures.
While solving for this, the key objectives of this project are to:
To design and analyze the Go-Kart structure.
To design an efficient, high performance Go-Kart.
To apply engineering knowledge, concepts for the manufacturing of go-kart.
To fabricate the Go-Kart with minimum cost.
To test its performance under Static and Dynamic condition.
To design and manufacture a convenient and easy way to shift gears through implementation of Paddle Shifters.
Takeaway from Project
The designing and ever increasing demands of automobile sector helped learn some great things which would be implemented in more than one way to obtain different results for different configuration of same components.
The chosen design methodology forced constant research, redraw and out of the box thinking in order to have a successful and unique design. Finally, we succeed to design and fabricate manually transmitted, high performance, maneuverable, single seated Go-kart. All the components and systems are designed and manufactured successfully and their performance is within desired levels. The completion of Kart has successfully helped in enhancing the knowledge and skill sets of team thoroughly.
